The text on the middle panel on this side reads:- "To the Greater Glory of God and in loving memory of those men belonging to this Parish who laid down their lives in the Great war. May they rest in peace." The other two panels on this side of the memorial contain lists of names of some of the fallen from the First (Great) World War. Other panels record the remainder of the names from that war and those who fell in the Second World War. The memorial was unveiled on the 25th September 1919, but originally it was positioned elsewhere. It was moved by the Army, at a much later date, to its present position but unfortunately they managed to damage it in the process. As a result the shaft under the cross is much shorter than it originally was.
