There is very pleasant parkland in the centre of Strathaven. This small open area is known as the Allison Green; to the northwest of Green Street there is the John Hastie Park and then further on the George Allan Park. Powmillon Burn is seen here flowing towards the viewer on its way to meeting Avon Water a mile or so to the east of the town at NS71674427 (see Image]). The two-arch bridge seen ahead carries Green Street over the burn.
