Bears the inscription -"THE RIGHTEOUS MAN REGARDETH THE LIFE OF HIS BEAST" This trough was placed at the junction of Manchester Road and Audenshaw Road, Audenshaw in 1879 and is made of polished granite. At that time cattle and horses were still regular users of the highways and a Miss M Asworth had the trough installed for their well-being. Adjacent to it is an old passenger tram electricity transformer.
