This isolated cottage was rented for a holiday in September 2000 and its remoteness enabled the photographer and friends to witness a sight that I had never seen before. It was of the night sky visible with absolute clarity, with no light pollution whatsoever. To see the constellations, the planets, the milky way and the myriads of stars against the inky blackness was awe inspiring. Such a sight would have been impossible from my garden in London.
