The bracken-covered embankment marks the original route of the Salisbury and Yeovil Railway from Bradford Abbas junction to River junction on the line from Yeovil Junction to Yeovil Town. There was a bridge over the double-tracked GWR Castle Cary - Weymouth line. This section of line was abandoned as early as 1870.
