This junction was at the east end of Talyllyn station. The line from Brecon coming from the left divided here: the left branch went to Talyllyn North junction and on to Hereford, while the right branch went to Talyllyn East junction, then to Merthyr via Torpantau. The nearest track had rails polished by the weekly freight train between Merthyr and Brecon, the only traffic then using this remote triangular junction.
