Opened in 1867 by the Midland Railway on the line from Derby to Manchester, this station (in the immediate foreground) closed in 1902 when the line was widened to four tracks and the replacement station in the background was built. View west towards Buxworth and Manchester. The line reverted to two tracks in the 1980s.
