Ariel Aqueduct on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal looking over the A38 and Birmingham University with the tower. Taken from a narrowboat on the new aqueduct, you can just see the water bottom left. The Ariel Aqueduct has been built as part of the development of the £16m Phase Two of the Selly Oak New Road developed by Birmingham City Council, British Waterways and Contractor Birse Civils Ltd. The aqueduct will hold 175,000 gallons of water and was named 'Ariel Aqueduct' after the Ariel Factory nearby that produced bicycles, motorcycles and cars. The factory closed in 1963 after being established for over 100 years.
