Looking across the parkland of Woolton Woods to the High Street with the tower of St Peter's Church in the background. The original church opened in 1826 and although additions were made to the building it became inadequate for the needs of the parishioners of Woolton and a new church was built on the site and opened in 1887. The 90-ft high bell tower contains 8 bells and is the highest point in Liverpool with commanding views of Lancashire, Cheshire and the Welsh hills. It was here that John Lennon first met Paul McCartney at the Summer Fair on 6th July 1957 and also the grave of Eleanor Rigby. Also visible is the spire of the Congregational Church which is now a residential care home.
