Opened in 1862 as "Hamstead and Great Barr" by the London & North Western Railway on the line from Birmingham via Bescot to Stafford, this station became "Great Barr" in 1875. It closed in 1899 when it was replaced by the current ("Hamstead") station on the other side of the Old Walsall Road bridge, from where this image was taken. View north west towards Tame Bridge Parkway and Bescot.
