In January 2013 Blockbuster UK went into administration and in February 2013 many stores were closed, leaving a reported 264 out of 528, including this one, still trading whilst a buyer was sought. On 23 March 2013 it was reported that a buyer had been found for the remaining stores, potentially saving many jobs. This building is one of five (Blockbuster, Pizza Hut, KFC, McD's and Carphone Warehouse) sited on what is effectively a traffic island surrounded by multiple sets of traffic lights.
