The only real purpose in submitting this rather standard snow scene in suburban Wolverhampton is the date - 23 March 2013 at 08:45 GMT. A year ago, March temperatures reached above 20°C for many days. Today it is 1°C at 13:00 GMT. The lying snow is about 12cm here, but far deeper further north in Staffordshire, and other places in the country. High pressure over north-west Europe is rebuffing the depressions approaching from the west, causing freezing easterly winds to deal with stalled fronts full of moisture! Unusually continuous low temperatures have led to persistent snowfall in late March. Never mind. Summer time starts next week! Image]
