A long facade with diverse motifs - the result of it being of three distinct builds - but well composed - it all hangs together pretty well. The original section dates from 1847, in 1849 Travis & Mangnall enlarged the house for James Watts - their work probably runs from the left to the central gable - before G.F. Armitage added the right-hand section in 1893. Grade II* listed. I believe the house is now owned by Stockport Council who use it for offices, but it is occasionally open to the public and its grounds are a public park.
