A public house by the name of White Horse was here by 1823. The present public house was completed 1957 for Worthington and Company, and stands, in part, on the site of the former Imperial Hotel which was demolished 1967 to make way for the future Centre Hotel, Paragon Street. Carr Lane derives its name from the former Myton Carr pasture ground.
