Originally the course of Image until Upper Hollingdean Road was constructed in the late 19th around the then new corporation depot which still occupies the area to the immediate north of the lane. On the right is the recently constructed waste transfer facility built on the site of the old corporation abattoir. Bear Hill and Race Hill are visible in the distance.
