Refurbished earlier this century, for residential use. The building - which dates from the 1860's - stands close to the River Wandle and once housed a water-wheel. Early photographs (see link below) show the mill as a much taller, three-storey structure. Archaeological investigation at the time of refurbishment earlier this century revealed engineering details, but found no useful material from earlier than the 18th century. http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/catalogue/adsdata/arch-461-1/dissemination/pdf/compassa1-4026.pdf
