Hough Green railway station is on the Liverpool - Manchester Line, ten miles to the east of Liverpool Lime Street Station. It is built in the standard Cheshire Lines Committee style. The station, which dates from 1872, has been designated as a Grade II listed building by English Heritage (http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1330351 The National Heritage List for England). The station and all trains serving it are operated by Northern Rail.
