On the western fringe of Lenton, Derby Road passes the north side of the Queens Medical Centre (just out of frame to the right). The long bus stop layby is provided due to the frequency of bus services using this stop and the fact that it is the main stop for the hospital. The wall alongside the pavement on the left protects a pedestrian subway which links the hospital campus with the north side of the road; this seems little used now, mainly because a pelican crossing has been installed just west of the bus stop.
