Built c1815 for Christopher Spurrier, M.P. for Bridport. The overall arrangement of seven bays in the rhythm 2-3-2 with the centre emphasised by means of a pediment is common in Georgian houses, but this is distinguished by the centre being wholly rusticated and the profusion of friezes decorated with swags and ox skulls. The flanking quadrant walls of 1825 add a touch of small-scale grandeur. Grade II* listed. The back of the house: Image The house is now a venue for private functions and sits in a country park, but is occasionally open to the public. The date of the photo is uncertain.
