The boat is waiting to use Maidenhead Road Lock (No 53). Narrowboats are a maximum of seventy feet in length, the size accommodated by most locks. Steel hulled leisure craft start at about thirty feet; this one is 42 feet in length. The terraced housing is in Kendall Avenue.
