Some explanation required. The no entry signs are on the slip road leaving the A380 dual carriageway southbound, and down which traffic hurtles at no mean speed, using the lane in the foreground to reach Kingsteignton. The left-hand lane is for local traffic heading for Ideford Combe, down the lane on the right. It needs to cross the southbound traffic lane, and hence has a little island created for it, forcing it to pause and choose an opportune moment to cross. Now is good; there's nothing coming.
