A byway leads off to the Northwest from opposite Hatches Farm. It is theoretically "open to all traffic", but you'd need a 4x4 to attempt it. We (my little daughter and I) trudged and squelched through deep puddles, thick mud and - er - farm animal biproducts - until we reached this little pond or pool marked on the map. It is very overgrown and the soil nearby is so riddled with animal holes (maybe foxes maybe badgers, perhaps just rabbits) that it resembles gruyere cheese ! I have a feeling that there may once have been a house here, as there was some discarded masonry and signs of former walls nearby. (see Image])
