Opened in 1994 to replace the Promenade station (Image), which was closed to allow development of the land occupied by platforms and sidings. A Northern Rail Class 156 Super Sprinter stands at Platform 1 with the Lancaster service. Platform 2 is generally only used by trains to and from Heysham
