In the distance, across Victoria Lake, "Lower Path" can be seen leading towards these water sources. The Visitor Centre is behind the photographer on a plateau, up 20-or-so steps on the other side of this wide valley. The ponds and concrete bridges are the only remaining features of this popular rendenzvous area where people used to congregate in the 30s and 40s to enjoy a number of formal features that included a bandstand, a bowling green and a rifle range.
