Knowing this lane from my cycling days (up to c2006), I have to say that it is not exactly suited to walkers. A few minutes earlier, I had found myself trapped between two 'blind' bends. Deciding that it was safer to cross to the other side of the road, I crossed behind an on-coming car, only for another car to appear from the opposite direction! An acceleration by the walker, and a swerve by the driver, avoided a collision; too close for comfort, though. By this straight stretch of Old Lane, my composure had returned to normal.
