In recent decades Broxburn has expanded to fill the fields between the old A8, now the A899, and the Broxburn bypass, now the A89. The rather corny names for the streets in this modern development, Badger Meadows, Badger Brook and so on, are a reference to the name of the town, 'brock' being a name meaning badger. Looking across the Union Canal from the path parallel to and above the towpath.
