27-29 Wheelgate. The building has been in use as a shoe shop for over 100 years and has been occupied by Hambys since 2005. No.29 was known as Commerce House and was in use by Charles Thompson – Draper in 1889, General Dealer in 1893, – then by Frederick Felton, another Draper in 1913, followed by Walter Willson. Ltd. – Grocers & Provision Merchants in 1929. Next door, in No.27 was William Leatham –Tailor, Boot & Shoe Maker 1889.
