A closer view of the demolition process. Great care is being taken to recover valuable architectural materials such as the flagstones of the platform edge (being raised in this image) and the red bricks of the demolished facade. The red bricks are of interest as they are by a long-gone manufacturer, Clarke & Rea of Wrexham, a partnership dissolved in 1903. Although the station was first built in 1858, the present buildings belong to 1892, when the platform canopy was also added. The iron columns and lattice girders that supported the remainder of the northern part of the roof are seen lying awaiting scrap or reclamation.
