In 1983 this large textile mill complex contained two water turbines and this derelict Belliss & Morcom inverted vertical compound (enclosed) steam engine. This was No. 8711 of 1933 with cylinders 14.5" & 21" x 8". It developed 225 bhp at 490 rpm. It drove two alternators. Although my memory is hazy the picture suggests that there may have been a pressure regulator to adjust either extraction or back pressure. It was scrapped around 1990-1.
