Temple Fortune was the name of a local farm around the junction with Temple Fortune Lane and Finchley Road, and various references to the Knights Templars are in the road and other names around here so quite probably an area of their activities. The original village can be seen in two terraced houses remaining next to the site in Saffron Close.
