At first I had taken this to be another old railway bridge, but the linear feature still shown on the map is the line of the aqueduct from Talla Reservoir in Upper Tweeddale to Edinburgh - it is marked as 'Course of Conduit Edinburgh & Dist. W.T.' on the 1921-30 OS 1" Popular edition sheet 74, which can be seen on the National Library of Scotland website http://maps.nls.uk/os/view/?sid=74400710#zoom=5&lat=28280&lon=23380&layers=BT Edinburgh & District Water Trust was the body responsible for building the Talla Reservoir in 1897 - Image shown one of their pipeline markers in Tweeddale. The aqueduct comes across Auchencorth Moss via Penicuik to Liberton in south Edinburgh.
