Tower at Moss Bank Park

The tower now forms part of Animal World, a mini zoo mainly for children. It was originally built by John Horrocks Ainsworth (d. 1864) as an astronomical observatory. Ainsworth was a member of the family who owned Moss Bank House (demolished 1953), the grounds of which are now Moss Bank Park.
