The Pavilion and the Gallows Inn Playing Field are seen here from the Erewash Canal towpath. The Playing Field was formally opened in 1957. In the distance are the secondary facilities used by the Ilkeston Rugby Union Football Club. The Club began playing here in 1962 and built its first ever clubhouse there, although its main games are now played at the Hallam Fields Sports Ground.
