The inscription, its beginning surrounded by many flourishes, is as follows: "In memory of Robert McKinlay, late farmer in Wester Ardoch, who died the 24th Nov'r 1803 in the 59th year of his age." The stone is in the churchyard of Image As explained in the description of Image, the churchyard is predominantly rural in character, and the names of many local farms, past and present, can be seen on the memorials. The Farm Horse Tax Rolls of 1797-98 have an entry for the same "Robert McKinlay, W. Ardoch". The farmhouse of Wester Ardoch was at Image
