This is one of the two bridges over the Calder described by Humphrey Bolton in his photo Image as having once carried railway tracks. I'm not so sure: the change of gradient evident in the photo looks too sudden for a railway. I reckon this is just a bridge for use by road vehicles within the marshalling yard. But even by the 1990s the yard was much reduced in size and the bridge may no longer have been in regular use. [I'm not sure how we came to be on it: this is not on a public right of way, but I was not leading the walk that day!]
