The date above the blocked off door says 1763, but clearly the cottage has had more recent changes. Some may have come about because the road is formerly the main road to/from the Midlands, A34, fortunately now superseded by the M40. It is still used by two long distance paths, The Macmillan Way and Shakespeare's Way. I have walked the former and am now walking the latter, so I'm repeating this bit.
