The Geograph project started in 2005 with the aim of publishing, organising and preserving representative images for every square kilometre of Great Britain, Ireland and the Isle of Man.

View South from broad new footpath across the River Dee towards Trading Estates in River Lane Saltney Chester. The River Dee was canalised many years ago in an attempt to maintain the viability of the port of Chester but the efforts were unsuccessful due to silting, causing the port move down river. Eventually Liverpool on the Mersey became the main port in the North West.
