Botanically, Cabbage Palm (Cordyline australis) is not a true palm but a member of the Lily family. The scented flowers have been and gone; the dead flower panicles hang down with the old leaves as new leaves spread out above. These plants can always be relied on to cast an exotic shadow. This one survives in the tarmac at the rear of Powderham Terrace.
