This is where the new Blakenhall Gardens housing development is now making good progress after some delays caused by national economic problems. Seen from Dudley Road, the foreground is where the old shopping precinct was. That included some useful Asian supermarkets where all manner of spices and fresh "ethnic" vegetables could be bought for reasonable prices. Plans include new shopping units here, including what appears to be one larger area, which will replace the demolished ones. In the distance is the spire of St Luke's Church above the new semi-detached house on plot Nos 61/62. Update - April 2014: the whole project has been completed - looks very smart, including two excellent Asian supermarkets, and some smaller shops.
