Northern Rail Pacer Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 142038, approaching Garswood Station on its journey to Liverpool. 142038 is one of the batch delivered in 1985 for use on suburban and regional services in the North West and North East of England. The fact that, more than 25 years later, many of these units are still working on commuter services around the North West is a tribute to their successful design for such workings.
