The Mission public house occupies a former chapel and mission. The blue plaque reads: 'Built in 1866 at the expense of Charles H. Wilson M.P. The Seamen's Mission was extended in 1926/7 to form the Mariners' Church of the Good Shepherd'. The foundation stone reads: 'This foundation stone was laid 16 December 1926 by Sir Henry Samman, Bart. who gave this chapel and the adjoining rooms for the use of all mariners to The Hull Mariners Church & Sailors Rest Society'.
