West end of St Edward's church

The liturgical west end (geographically south-west) of this Anglican parish church. It was built in 1957-8 to the designs of Caroe and Partners (who are still the church's appointed architects). The church has a simple design of nave, transepts and chancel with no side aisles; the structure is concrete portal frames (typical of its time). Polycarbonate protection has been fitted to the windows to prevent vandalism.
