The pub was built in the 1950s to serve the newly constructed athletics arena and remains in use today though I'm guessing it has lost oa lot of the match day custom that the fans of Brighton & hove Albion once bought with it. Beyond is Withdean Wood nature reserve which hugs the southern slope of this natural bowl.
