This is the Long Pond that bisects the Oak Wood and Ash Plantation. It was created by Lancelot "Capability" Brown in the eighteenth century. During "The Little Ice Age" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age that finally ended in the mid 1900's ice was cut from this pond and stored in the Image for use in the summer.
