An old country lane that has been swallowed up by the conurbation of Brighton. The lane once linked the farms of the hamlet of Withdean to Ditchling Road which for a while was the main London to Brighton road. Now a one way route which with the sunken nature of the lane coupled with extensive foliage either side during summer can often make you forget you are in a city when driving up.
