In the middle of the large Kingswood Estate owned by Southwark Council, this building houses a library and community centre. A Southwark Council blue plaque (Image) explains that it was the former home of John Lawson Johnston (1839-1900), inventor of Bovril, and that it was known popularly as "Bovril Castle".
