Nos. 76–77 Lowgate are a pair of late-18th-century merchants' houses, behind which, symmetrically arranged round a courtyard, were both the domestic offices and stable quarters and the warehouses. The latter are placed in the furthermost corners of the courtyards and have access from Lowgate by means of a pair of arches.
