There are several courts off Akeman Street in Tring on both sides of the road. This one is Rodwell Yard containing Brown's Maltings. Rodwells was a long-established drinks business that had existed in Tring for over 150 years before moving to nearby Pitstone. Sadly it only lasted about ten years at its new address, failing in 2008 - see local newspaper report http://www.hemeltoday.co.uk/news/local/family-drinks-business-goes-bust-1-1198677 This yard was part of their premises before they moved. Brown's Maltings occupied part of the site and has now leant its name to the refurbished buildings here. Maltings are buildings used to produce and store malt for use in the brewing industry. In the same street were also Grace's Maltings - The Grace family being another long-established Tring family that still have a hardware shop on the High Street established well over 200 years ago.
