A Class 142 diesel multiple unit leaving Wrexham Central station. There clearly used to be at least two tracks here at some point, although by the time this image was taken, the railway had been rationalised to just a single line. The railway used to continue beyond Wrexham, but the line closed in 1962. Since then, Wrexham Central has been the end of the line. This image was taken in 1992. The railway station has since been resited much closer to the camera, with the land in the background redeveloped into a retail park. This image Image was taken from the same bridge in 2010, while this image Image shows the retail units that have been built on the site previously occupied by the car parking area to the left of the train.
