With about 2 miles to landing, this Ilyushin Il-96-300 arrives from Havana. This Russian design has been produced in very low numbers. This is one of three such aircraft operated by Cubana, the only airline outside the former USSR to use them. This is for political reasons. Were it not for the trade embargo placed by the USA, Cuba would doubtless use more economical planes from Western sources.
